Bursary Selection Process
The Pretoria Chinese School Bursary Committee will review all bursary applications and select the recipients based on the eligibility criteria and the selection criteria specified for each bursary.
Bursary Award Period: Bursaries are valid for the specified academic year and cannot be carried forward into another academic year.
Bursary Disbursement: Academic bursary funds will be disbursed directly to the student’s account at Pretoria Chinese School.
Policy Review: The Academic Bursary Reward Plan for Grade 8 Students at Pretoria Chinese School will be reviewed annually to ensure that it remains in alignment with the goals and values of the institution.
Withdrawal during the Academic Year and Liability for the Bursary: If a scholarship recipient withdraws from the program during the academic year, they will be liable for the bursary for that year. The scholarship recipient will be required to repay any bursary funds they have received up to the point of withdrawal. The school administration reserves the right to determine the reason for withdrawal and the amount of the bursary that must be repaid.
Clause on Conditions for Bursary Withdrawal:
1) Failure to maintain grades during the terms:
If a scholarship recipient fails to maintain the required grades during the terms, they will receive a warning at the end of term 1 or 2. If the scholarship recipient does not improve their grades after the warning, the bursary may be withdrawn.
2) Cheating (Academic Dishonesty):
If a scholarship recipient is found guilty of cheating or academic dishonesty, the bursary will be immediately withdrawn. The scholarship recipient may also face disciplinary action according to the school’s academic policies.
3) Failure to uphold school ethos (Behaviour):
If a scholarship recipient fails to uphold the school ethos in terms of behaviour, the bursary may be withdrawn.
The scholarship recipient will be given a warning and an opportunity to correct their behaviour. If the scholarship recipient does not improve their behaviour, the bursary may be withdrawn.
Multiple Awards: As a policy maker at this school, we believe in providing equal opportunities for all students to excel in their academic pursuits. Therefore, we would like to clarify that bursary recipients may not be awarded more than one bursary for each academic year. This policy is in place to ensure fairness and equal distribution of resources among all eligible students. We encourage all students to apply for the available bursaries, and we will continue to support them in their academic journey.
Conclusion: Pretoria Chinese School is committed to supporting academic excellence and providing opportunities for students to achieve their educational goals. Our academic bursary program is one way we demonstrate this commitment and support our students’ success.
