Senior Primary School Phase: Academic Excellence & Holistic Development

The Senior Primary School phase, encompassing Grades 4 to 7, initiates a more structured educational experience. Building on the robust foundation established in the Junior Primary phase, students begin cycle tests and assessments in Grade 4.

While we prioritize academic excellence, we are equally committed to the holistic development of our students. We instill our core values of discipline, humility, and respect, encouraging Grade 7 students to take on leadership roles and participate in school events.

Our comprehensive academic support in English, Mathematics, Afrikaans, and Mandarin ensures that each student thrives both academically and personally.

Encouraging Positive Behavior
& Participation

We implement a disciplined structure that promotes positive behaviour and academic performance, allowing students to earn house points towards a House Trophy awarded annually.

Our warning system helps students learn responsibility by addressing mistakes, such as incomplete homework, with support and monitoring from teachers and parents.

Our co-curricular program includes sports such as netball, soccer, swimming, cricket, and hockey, as well as community service and club activities for all grades (Gr 00 – Gr 12), instilling valuable societal values.

The Chinese Department further enriches our ethos with dance and cultural experiences, enhancing students' cultural awareness.

Holistic Development & Leadership

While academic excellence is our primary focus, we also prioritize holistic development, guided by our pillars of discipline, humility, and respect.

In Grade 7, students are encouraged to monitor classes and participate in events, with some appointed to the Junior Executive Council (JEC) in a special ceremony.

The JEC plans and hosts socials for Grade 5 and 6 students as part of their fundraising and leadership development activities.

Our inclusive environment embraces diversity in religion, race, and culture, making parents, teachers, and students feel at home and free to be themselves.

Bursary Reward Plan

Grade 8 Students

Pretoria Chinese School is dedicated to promoting academic excellence and leadership by providing opportunities for students to achieve their educational goals.

As part of this commitment, we offer academic bursaries to Grade 7 students who are applying to study for Grade 8 at our school. The bursary will include provision for Leadership Bursaries for students attending JEC from Pretoria Chinese School.

These bursaries will be awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional leadership skills in their academic work and extracurricular activities. The number and value of the bursaries will be determined by the school administration.
